WASHINGTON, D.C., June 17, 2015 — CleanChoice Energy, a renewable energy company providing 100 percent renewable energy to customers across eight states and the District of Columbia, today announced Founder and CEO Tom Matzzie was named a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 award for the Greater Washington region.

The award program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in areas like innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. EY's Entrepreneur of the Year program is now in its 29th year, and is the world's most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs, recognizing business leaders in over 145 cities and 60 countries throughout the world.

"I'm honored and excited to be named a finalist in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award," said Tom Matzzie, Founder and CEO of CleanChoice Energy. "This recognition is an honor for our entire team and the innovative data-driven approach we take to building a renewable energy future."

CleanChoice Energy has grown quickly since it launched in 2013, and now provides more than 60,000 customers with electricity sourced from renewable energy projects, including wind farms and solar farms. The company also makes it easy for customers to create social and environmental impacts. Altogether, CleanChoice Energy has donated more than $543,000 of its gross revenue on an annual basis to non-profit organizations and its customers have prevented more than 588,471,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions—the equivalent environmental impact of nearly 219,000 acres of forest.

EY Entrepreneur of the Year award finalists were selected by a panel of independent judges, and the award winners will be announced on Thursday, June 18. Regional award winners are eligible for consideration in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year national awards, to be announced later this year.
