CleanChoice Energy commits to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2040
WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 19, 2022 — CleanChoice Energy, the cleantech company that empowers people and businesses to access climate solutions, announced today that it has signed The Climate Pledge, a commitment initiated by Amazon and Global Optimism to reach net zero carbon by 2040—a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement’s goal of 2050.
As a signatory of The Climate Pledge, CleanChoice Energy will measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis, implement decarbonization strategies in line with the Paris Agreement, and neutralize any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially beneficial offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.
Sustainability is central to CleanChoice Energy’s mission—all electricity offered is 100% pollution-free, wind and solar energy. CleanChoice customers have reduced, in greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent of 4.1 billion pounds of coal not burned as of September 2022.
“By joining The Climate Pledge, we are reaffirming the commitment we’ve made to help build a world without catastrophic climate change—one with pure, clean air and abundant renewable energy,” said Tom Matzzie, CEO of CleanChoice Energy. “As the effects of climate change grow more significant each year, choosing sustainable, clean energy is more critical than ever.”
