20 Cities Making Clean Energy Moves in 2020

Around the world, many cities, states, and countries have taken steps to reduce their impacts on the environment. In the U.S., 6 cities have already fully transitioned to 100% clean, renewable energy in an effort to protect our planet, and more than 150 cities have committed to making the switch. Here are 20 U.S. cities pledging to lead the clean energy revolution in 2020 and beyond:
Arlington, Virginia, has committed to 100% renewable energy community-wide by 2035.
Atlanta, Georgia, pledged to transition to 100% clean energy by 2035.
Boulder, Colorado, has committed to 100% renewable energy by 2030.
Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has committed to transition to 100% clean energy by 2050.
Chicago, Illinois, pledged to power all of its buildings with clean energy by 2035 and switch its more than 1,850 buses to electric buses by 2040.
Cincinnati, Ohio, has committed to a community-wide transition to 100% clean energy by 2035.
Cleveland, Ohio, pledged to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050.
Columbia, South Carolina, has committed to transition to 100% clean energy by 2036.
Denver, Colorado, pledged to transition to 100% clean energy community-wide by 2030.
Los Angeles, California, has committed to a community-wide transition to 100% clean energy by 2045.
Minneapolis, Minnesota, has committed to 100% clean energy for municipal facilities by 2022 and community-wide by 2030.
Orlando, Florida, has committed to 100% clean energy for municipal facilities by 2030 and community-wide by 2050.
Park City, Utah, has committed to 100% renewable energy for city operations by 2022 and community-wide by 2030.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, pledged to transition to 100% renewable energy community-wide by 2035.
Portland, Oregon, committed to transition to 100% clean energy by 2050.
San Diego, California, pledged to transition to 100% renewable energy city-wide by 2035.
St. Louis, Missouri, has committed to a city-wide transition to 100% renewable energy by 2035.
St. Paul, Minnesota, pledged to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030.
Tallahassee, Florida, has committed to 100% renewable energy for all city operations by 2035 and community-wide by 2050.
Washington, D.C., pledged to transition to 100% clean energy by 2032.
